Energy Alerts are issued when a utility company, like California Independent System Operator (CAISO), declares an electrical emergency.  Businesses, governments and residents are then asked to reduce their electricity use voluntarily. The alert is used to prevent Stage 1 Electrical Emergencies - times when the demand for electricity is at its peak, typically during very hot weather.

CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS: You can subscribe to these alerts by choosing California - Flex Your Power, or you can test this feature by choosing 'For simulation only--do not use'. This will cause your vera unit to look for an alert at micasaverde.com (http://micasaverde.com/status.xml) every 60 seconds. If Vera finds an alert there, she will trigger the appropriate scene.

In order to create this alert go to http://micasaverde.com/test_dummy_alert.php
Press 'Go' and wait 1 minute. After 1 minute, the alert should be automatically deleted. If it's not you can manually delete it from here: http://micasaverde.com/del_dummy_alert.php
